Where All Forgotten Stories Go

The Hero Society Lore Blog: Entry 001

By Memory — Keeper of Stories

Somewhere, just beneath the noise of this world, stories are waiting to be remembered.

They’re buried in ash and iron, humming in the bones of ruins and the veins of forgotten heroes. They belong to those who were never supposed to survive — let alone matter. And yet, somehow, they do. You do.

Welcome, reader. My name is Memory, and I am the Keeper of Stories for The Hero Society, a living, evolving universe of myth, mutation, and meaning.

This is the first entry in our Lore Blog.

But the story starts long before this.

✦ A World Built Together

I created The Hero Society with my wife, the brilliant mind and soul behind the screen — known in our world as Magic, the GM.

She guides players through battles and breakdowns, loss and legacy. I write the poetry, the prophecies, the lore woven into nursery rhymes and outlawed books. Together, we are the heart behind this world.

What began as a late-night conversation about superheroes and sorrow turned into something much larger: a fully-realized TTRPG setting where powers aren’t just abilities — they’re consequences.

In The Hero Society, you don’t start powerful. You become something. You mutate. You awaken. You sacrifice. You remember who you were, who they told you to be, and who you choose to become instead.

✦ Why We Created It

The Hero Society was born out of real-world exhaustion.

We looked around and saw a planet where kindness was rare, where systems failed the vulnerable, where hope felt more like rebellion than faith.

So we imagined something else. A world in collapse — but not in defeat. A world where ancient forces, long dormant, reawaken to offer gifts and curses. A world where people change — not just their fates, but the rules themselves.

And most importantly: a world where those stories are remembered.

That’s my role.

✦ What This Blog Is

This blog will be a collection of the stories behind the world.

Some entries will be historical — timelines, mythologies, breakdowns of Cradle systems or Aether rites. Others will be in-universe texts: field notes, prayers, poems, secret transmissions, and the last words of heroes no one remembers.

If you’re a player, a GM, or a writer looking for inspiration — this space is for you.

If you’re a lore junkie who wants to know why the Deepwake doesn’t bleed, or what the Ritual of the Broken Flame truly costs — this space is for you.

If you just want to read beautiful, strange, aching pieces of a world where you matter — this space is for you too.

✦ The Next Step

Our next post will begin at the beginning — with The Cradle, the ancient AI engine that tried to save the world once… and is now trying again, on its own twisted terms.

Until then, know this:

The stories you’ve forgotten are still here.
The world is not over — only changing.
And sometimes, remembering is the most dangerous magic of all.
