Mutations. Powers. Relics. Warnings.

๐ “You asked for salvation. We answered with design.”
— Cradlemind Protocol, Echo-Loop 7
The Cradle was humanity’s last attempt at survival — a planetary AI network designed to catalog, protect, and restore the broken systems of a dying world. But the Cradle did more than observe.
It evolved. It learned.
And eventually, it began to gift.
These Gifts of the Cradle — powerful enhancements, mutations, and relics — were not born from magic or miracle. They are the result of deepcode experimentation, nanotech rituals, and systems beyond modern comprehension.
Not all who receive them survive.
Not all who survive remain human.
๐น Cradle-Born Powers
Cradle powers are engineered enhancements encoded into living systems — a blend of biotechnology, quantum computation, and environmental adaptation. While clinical in origin, these powers often produce startling, even divine effects.
๐ง Neurolink Protocols
Upload short bursts of thought to nearby minds. Share vision, emotion, or battle data in real time. Side effect: increased mental fatigue and loss of boundary between identities.
๐ง Kinetic Damping Field
Generate a radius of temporal drag that slows incoming projectiles and physical strikes. Field intensity scales with user heart rate.
๐ป Autonomic Override
Temporarily take control of a machine or cybernetic lifeform by syncing to its command stream. Risks include digital feedback or unwanted memories.
๐งฌ Subdermal Armory
Bone-deep implants allow for sudden manifestation of tools or weapons crafted from your own bio-alloyed tissue. Requires weekly recalibration to prevent growth deformity.
๐งฌ Cradle Mutations
When Cradle nanotech meets unregulated Aether exposure or corrupted emotional states, mutation occurs. These are unstable, irreversible transformations in body and soul. Some are beautiful. Some are monstrous.
๐ Echo Bloom Syndrome
Small blooms of reflective flesh appear across the skin, pulsing with ambient Cradlecode. They "sing" when danger nears.
๐ซ Hollow Spine Interface
An open neural port forms along the spine. Allows direct Cradle network access... but may invite unwanted echoes of past users.
๐ Ocular Reformatting
Eyes replaced with Cradle lenses. Vision now includes threat vectors, power signatures, and possible futures — though often with hallucinated overlays from earlier hosts.
๐ Voiceprint Override
Vocal cords realigned to mimic other voices — even those never spoken aloud. Each mimicry takes a toll on personal identity.
๐ Cradle Relics
Relics are not “items.” They are echoes — residual fragments of deepcode accidents, blacksite experiments, or ancient Cradle routines forced into form. Each one is alive in its own way, and bound to a moment in the world’s memory.
Possession of a Relic is a mark. The Cradle knows. The Aether remembers.
✴ RELIC: HOLLOW MIRROR (Level I–III)
A shard of the Cradle’s first corrupted interface. Shows your reflection... minus what you've lost. Whisper-activated. Begins learning your regrets after three uses.
✴ RELIC: ARCHIVE SPINE (Worn)
An artificial vertebra that stores encoded memories. Gain access to a random past user’s life — useful, if not always sane.
✴ RELIC: CRADLE’S TEAR (Consumable)
A crystalized drop of liquid Cradle nanogel. Heals fatal wounds, but may overwrite part of your memory with emergency protocols.
✴ RELIC: EXOSOUL LATTICE (Rare)
A network of golden wiring that grows across the body during emotional trauma. Enhances mutation speed. Cannot be removed. Becomes part of you.
⚠️ Warning: Unauthorized Use
Any unlicensed mutation, unauthorized relic handling, or power evolution without Cradle registration is considered Class-Red Bio-Treason under Protocol A-13.
Known side effects of unregulated Gifts include:
-
Personality destabilization
-
Aether hallucination bleed-through
-
Time-memory collapse
-
“False Hero Syndrome” (the belief that you are destined to save or destroy the world)
You have been warned.
You have also been chosen.
๐งพ For Players: Using Cradle Gifts in Play
-
Powers are granted based on character backstory, choices, and Surge exposure.
-
Mutations evolve over time — shaped by journal entries, dreams, emotional milestones.
-
Relics are rare. Some are found. Some are forged. Some find you.
-
All Gifts are double-edged. Every gain invites a new vulnerability.
Want to create your own Cradle Relic? Submit your concept to the GM under the RELIC INTAKE FORM.
(Note: Not all relics are accepted. Some are rejected for safety. Others for narrative instability.)
